About
Hey there,
I’m Sunya. I grew up in a small fishing town in Kenya. My parents came from two seemingly incongruent backgrounds that influenced my life’s work. My maternal family were a scholarly group, indulging in philosophy and ancient Eastern wisdom. My paternal side were Indian tradesmen who emigrated to East Africa with colonial settlers. I grew up finding myself passionate about entrepreneurship and investing, and equally obsessed with the bigger questions of life and our existence.
A few things I’ve done:
- Managed seed and venture capital funds targeting African tech startups
- Built a textile supply chain connecting alpaca herders, yarn makers and manufacturers of Peru
- Designed ecotourism businesses in Ecuador and Mexico
- Sold and marketed for a software startup in the US that grew to an eight digit valuation
- Traveled solo through 30+ countries
I spend most of my time on:
- Blockchain and crypto investments
- Running a farm in Kenya
- Reading, writing and podcasting for curious minds and entrepreneurs
I embrace my inner polymath and find my truths by connecting knowledge from across the disciplines. These are the greats that inspire me –
To understand myself:
- Jiddu Krishnamurti
- Eckhart Tolle
To understand the world:
- Allan Watts
- Terrence McKenna
- Sam Harris
Human centric innovation:
- Buckminster Fuller
- Jacques Fresco
- Douglas Rushkoff
- Jeremy Rifkin
I aim to bring clarity on who we are, the world around us and how to serve humanity. Check out my essays and podcasts (when I launch, hopefully soon…), and for exclusive access to my best work submit your email to enroll in the newsletter I send out every once in a while
